2020 has been a final year of primary school like no other for Year 6 students across the Diocese. At St Patrick’s Primary Guildford the end of term was filled with lots of fun activities, events and special recognition from the community to mark this significant milestone for students before they head off to high school.
As part of their Year 6 graduation students and families (some in person and others via live stream) attended the end of year Thanksgiving Mass, Year 6 Graduation ceremony and students were even treated to a celebration sports day facilitated by Motiv8 at Guildford Park.
St Patrick’s Principal Steven Jones said after such a challenging and isolated year, it was important to celebrate the achievements of the students.
“2020 will definitely be a year that the world will not forget quickly,” Steven said. “Whilst it has been challenging and many planned events have not gone ahead, I would like to congratulate all members of our school community, students, staff and parents for their resilience, adaptability and perseverance.”
“To our Year 6 students, I look forward to hearing all the exciting things that you will experience in the years to come. We are proud of all your achievements, especially your perseverance during this unusual year.”
Steven said the planned school improvements including the building and construction of a number of new learning spaces, library and other facilities saw significant change throughout the year. “We are very excited to open and use our new spaces in 2021,” Steven said.
Students were also treated to a whole school reward during Term 4 for achieving their school-wide goal to be Safe, Respectful Learners. Kindergarten to Year 6 were treated to a disco, movie and even waterslides!
Congratulations to the Year 6 classes of 2020 across all our schools.
